From the first day of this class, to the last, i've learned a ton, thats for sure. To start, I learned camera mechanics, when all I knew what a camera did was take photos. What I mean by this, is I learned what Aperture, Shutter Speed, ISO, and a ton more, like the different types of lenses. When I first walked in, I always took photos on auto, but now my photo turns out even better in manual than auto, because of the settings i've learned how to change. The first day I went to take photos, I just looked around and took photos of things that look cool. Now, I look for meaning in my photos. The photos on the left are photos that I took on the first few days, and the photos on the right are ones I took recently, the comparison is pretty obvious. Next, I didn't know a single thing going into photoshop, but I feel as if i've almost mastered it after using it for a single trimester. I've learned tons of helpful tips and got to do things I never could have imagined doing. I thought that photoshop was the hardest thing, and was amazed by anyone who was a pro at it. However, once you start, its surprising how easy it becomes. I've learned tons of helpful tips, like quick selecting, select inversing, and a ton of quick and easy shortcuts for the computer. Overall, photoshop has been a ride, but a fun one for sure.

For this week, we had to create puns and dictionary definitions using photoshop to display them. The first collage of photos are my puns, the red background shows USB, the middle photo in blue demonstrates sofishticated, and the last one in green displays Northface. In my dictionary definitions, I did Dentophobia, which means fear of dentists, and Gamophobia, the fear of marriage. I learned a great deal in this assignment. I feel like i've mastered quick selection with this assignment. Another thing I learned in this assignment is to create a collage.
For this week, I decided to take photos that gave off a mirror effect. I got this effect from the rain that sat on top of this table. It was pretty easy taking these photos, just getting down to the level of the water to get this look, was pretty hard. No editing was done to this photo, and the exposure triangle the shutter speed 1/60th, the aperture was 5.4, and the ISO at 200. I just learned how to get down to the level of my subject to get off the mirror look. Getting the photo was pretty easy, just to get the mirror to line up with it got a little tricky.
For this assignment, we had to take two portrait photos, one in a studio, and one outside, or natural lighting. Then, we had to use photoshop to create a frame around the photos. On the left, it shows the studio photo. On the right, it shows the photo I took outside. I learned how to create a frame behind the photo, as shown here in the white. Also, how to put a black background. I worked on my quick shortcuts like command A in this assignment as well, it really made things go quicker.
In this photoshop assignment, we pretty much got free roam to do whatever photoshop we wanted. I used Youtube to find tutorials and completed the task. I enjoyed it because we got to do what we wanted. I gained a great deal from these Youtube tutorials, from double exposure, glitch, and a text photo video. The glitch photo took me the longest, because I used the Rectangular Marque tool to add the cool effect on it. Also, in the first one it took a while to get the double exposure on the jacket, but not the N.B.A logo or the Nuggets logo.
For this week, I did Macro. I used the Macro setting and put the flash on to create this look, where the details don't show to a human eye. These photos were pretty easy to take, but to get a really good one where it would show these details took some time. No editing was done to this photo. The aperture was set at f/3.4. Shutter Speed was set at 1/60th, and the ISO was set at 200. I learned how to get specific details to show in a photo. Also, how much the flash can help to show details in a photo. Before, I had no understanding what a flash could do to a photo, but this assignment helped.
For this week, I took photos for Saline Grammy Night, and converted them over to black and white. These photos were really easy, since they were supposed to look toward the camera, so I wouldn't have to try and have them look a certain way. Also, turning a photo into black and white is really easy, just one click in photoshop The exposure triangle was set at an aperture of f/5, a shutter speed of 1/30th, and the ISO set at 100. I learned how to change a photo into black and white. Also, I got used to using flash more, and feel comfortable with it now.
In this assignment, I would take a photo, then have someone come in, pose, take a photo, move to a new spot, and continue the process. Then, I used photoshop and layer masking to create this illusion that there was more than one of him. This assignment I learned how to not only put multiple of the same person in one photo, but also how to mask when they are in the same position, as shown in the first photo.
For this week, I chose to do nature. Surprisingly, it was one of the hardest weeks, to try and get it to focus on the correct object really took some time. However, I like how they turned out, especially the first one which gives a tunneling effect by using depth of field. This photo was not edited, and the exposure triangle was set at an aperture of f/4, shutter speed at 1/60th, and the ISO at 100. The most important thing I took away from taking photos this week, was the importance of depth of field. It really gave that extra effect on the photo. Another thing I learned was how to gain the best possible focus, with a lot of subjects in your way.
In photoshop, I had to create a panoramic photo using photoshop. I went around the school, finding a wide area, then took multiple photos, getting one third of the previous photo, until I got the full view. Then, I went into photoshop and used photo merge to merge the photos together, creating the panoramic look. I never knew how to take a panoramic photo on a camera before this, and I found it crazy how it can click and merge the photos together by using photoshop. It was quick, easy, and a lot of fun because it was more picture taking than work.
